How can I find greater intimacy in my relationships?

Much of intimacy hinges on our ability to love the other person well.

This requires knowing what real love requires…honesty, putting their needs above your own, humility, patience, kindness, faithfulness, being willing to forgive them, seek what’s best for them. If it sounds sacrificial, it is.

The ability to love in this way is often beyond us. We are wired to be self-serving, meeting our own needs.

But such love is possible when your need to be loved is already met. This is why God created us to first know his love and acceptance, so then we have what we need to genuinely love someone else. God simply asks us to “love one another, as I have loved you.”
