Video transcript:

Wouldn't it be great if someone simply showed you — without pressure — the evidence for God's existence? Here are six reasons to know that God exists.

Consider our Earth. Every year, our Earth orbits around a massive sun, while remaining the perfect distance from the sun. Any closer and we'd burn up. Any further and we'd freeze.

The earth also rotates on its axis, allowing the entire surface of the Earth to be properly warmed and cooled every 24 hours.

The earth's size and gravity gives it a thin atmosphere with just the right mix of oxygen and nitrogen necessary for plant, animal, and human life. If the Earth were smaller, we'd have no atmosphere, larger, and it would trap harmful gases like Jupiter.

Our moon is also the perfect size and distance from the earth. The moon creates the ocean tides that prevent oceans from stagnating, yet not so strong that the oceans spill over the land.

Something that has always baffled scientists is that the universe operates by consistent mathematical laws of nature. Gravity, the speed of light, the earth's rotation, and electromagnetism all can be measured with precise numbers.

The speed of light is the same whether it's from a child's flashlight or from a star billions of miles away. Scientists are amazed by this order. There's no logical reason the universe must obey such precise rules. Yet all of science depends on this reliability.

Let's consider water. Colorless, odorless, and without taste, and yet no living thing can survive without it. Water is a universal solvent, allowing food and medicines to dissolve into our smallest blood vessels. It's also chemically neutral, so it doesn't change the makeup of those substances.

It has a unique surface tension, so water can travel upward against gravity to the tallest trees. Water also freezes from the top down, so fish can live in the winter.

Most of Earth's water is in the oceans. Yet an ingenious system of evaporation lifts the ocean water, removes the salt, and carries fresh water over the land in the form of rain to plants, animals, and people.

Everything about our earth and the way the universe operates suggests a plan. We can no longer think, “Well, it's always been this way.”

Science confirms that the Earth and the entire universe had a start referred to as the Big Bang. It was a singular moment in time described as a massive explosion, containing all that exists today. For something to begin to exist, something must have caused it.

Nobel scientist Steven Weinberg described the universe at its start as quote, “Filled with light.”

This mirrors what is written in the first chapter of Genesis, in the Bible, many thousands of years ago. “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” And God said, ‘Let there be light.’”

Now, let's get a little more personal. Consider your body. Much like a computer program, each cell in your body contains billions of DNA chemicals arranged like a detailed instruction code, directing every detail of how each cell in your body should function. No program exists without a programmer.

Your brain is also amazing. It takes in all the colors and objects you see, the temperature around you, the pressure of your feet against the floor, the sounds around you, the dryness of your mouth, and the texture of an object in your hand.

At the same time, your brain registers all of your emotions, thoughts, and memories. Still at the same time it keeps track of ongoing functions of your body like your breathing pattern, eyelid movement, heartbeat, movement of each muscle, hunger.

The human brain processes more than a million messages a second. It weighs the importance of all this data, filtering out the relatively unimportant so you can focus and operate effectively in your world.

Your brain functions differently than your other organs. There is an intelligence to it… the ability to reason, to produce feelings, to dream and plan, to take action, and relate to other people.

All of this points to a creator of the universe and of us. He yearns for us to know him and go through life in a relationship with him. He never intended that we would go through this life on our own. God pursues us. He is constantly initiating and seeking for us to come to him.

So that we could know God, God has fully revealed himself to us in the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Jesus was unlike religious leaders who saw themselves as teachers or prophets. Jesus claimed to be equal with God. Jesus said he could do what only belongs to God. Jesus said he could answer prayer, forgive sins, and give us eternal life.

Jesus did not merely claim all of this to be true. He proved his power as God through his miracles. He healed those who could not see, walk, or hear. He raised people from the dead. He cured people of diseases and drove out demons who were enslaving people. Thousands of people followed him for his words and his ability to help them.

Even today, Jesus invites people: “Come to me, all who are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” And, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Jesus’ greatest act of love was to eliminate the barrier that stood between us and him: our sins. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin for us so we could have a relationship with him that would last forever.

Jesus died on a cross for our sin, and three days later rose from the dead — his body fully alive again, just as he said he would. Jesus offers us this… He said, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”

God does not force belief, but provides ample evidence for us to respond freely: the earth's perfect size and position to the sun, the sudden start of the universe, the unique properties of water, the universe operating by consistent and measurable laws, billions of DNA chemicals in each cell, programming our bodies’ functions. And above all, God's willingness to be known through Jesus Christ, is the clearest proof of his desire for a relationship with us.

If you want to begin a relationship with God right now, you can. This is your decision. No coercion here. But if you want to be forgiven by God and come into a relationship with him, you can do so right now by asking him to forgive you and come into your life.

Jesus gives you this invitation: “Behold, I stand at the door [of your heart] and knock. He who hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into them.”

If you want to do this, but aren't sure how to put it into words, this may help…

“Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins, and offering me full forgiveness and a relationship with you. Thank you also for the amount of evidence in what you've created for me to realize that you exist. Come into my life now. I want to know you in a real way and be in a relationship with you. Thank you that you wanted a relationship with me. Amen.”

God views your relationship with him as permanent. Referring to all those who believe in him, Jesus said of us, “I know them and they follow me, and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish, and no one shall snatch them out of my hand.”

This is just the start of your relationship with God. We created another site to help you grow to know God better. Please go now to StartingWithGod.com. You'll find it very helpful.
